Definition:
Biodiversity includes the quantity and variety of organisms, or life-forms found within a specified geographic region or area. In relationship to organic farming, biodiversity is important for successful integrated pest management (IPM), soil conditions, overall growth of crops and maintenance of organic livestock.
In most cases, a farm with greater biodiversity, meaning a greater number and variety of plants, animals, birds and insects, will be more naturally stable than a farm with less biodiversity.
