It can be tough to find certified organic ingredients, but if you happen to be an organic food retailers, restaurant owner or manufacturer located in Minnesota, it's just gotten a little easier to search for organic ingredients grown in your state.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has updated their Directory of Minnesota Organic Farms in order to help connect certified organic farmers with brokers, grocery stores, restaurants, and food manufacturers who are looking for organic ingredients. The guide is meant for farms that only sell to each other and to processors, traders, retailers, chefs, and other intermediate or large-scale buyers, not home-grown farm goods for families and individuals.
As a buyer, the newly updated guide can help you...
- Identify and contact farmers who are growing a commodity you need.
- Find groups of farmers in a certain county or region.
- Contact farmers about potential production contracts.
