Some believe that organic farming is on the decline. Hearing that organic farm jobs and profits are declining can be unsettling, but keep in mind that organic farming may still be a smart career move. Many organic farmers DO make a good living.
- The 2010-11 Occupational Outlook Handbook for Farmers, Ranchers, and Agricultural Managers does say that overall employment for farmers is expected to decline. However, they also state that horticulture and organic food production are among the fastest growing segments of agriculture, and that jobs for agricultural managers are expected to increase.
- "Emerging Organic Food Markets" notes that the global organic food market will likely hit $70.2 billion by the end of 2010.
- Mintel research astoundingly shows that organic consumers tend to cut costs elsewhere in order to keep organic food on their table. Where's that organic food come from? The farm of course.
