In spite of the growing popularity of organic food among consumers, some think that organic farming is on the decline. The American Prospect June cover story, Slowed Food Revolution, notes that, "Organic growers face great but often overlooked economic hardship."
Another problem for organic farmers, pointed out by Slowed Food Revolution, is that organic farmers, whether raising livestock or growing crops, "Must contend with circumstances made harder by a USDA rigged to favor industrial agriculture and factory food."
Current market prices and farmer profits discussed in Slowed Food Revolution show that most organic farmers don't even come close to making a living.
What do you think? Is organic farming on the decline? Can organic farmers still make a living?
